WES 2010 carnage

Oh my, where to begin? How about the official announcement of the cdma blackberry Bold 9650! RIM boosted the flash memory to 512mb. The overall look is very similar to the previous tour save for some incremental changes. It comes standard with wifi and it will most definitely be OS 6.0 ready.

RIM also announced the Pearl 9100 which is 3G and comes with a suretype keyboard and the ever popular trackpad. The processor is apparently very snappy and the visual display is supposed to be high res! Flip open the battery cover door and you see a retractable slide which makes removing the sim card a cinch!

The future looks bright. Both phones are slated for a May/June release.

yet another OS upgrade for javelin!!

OS 5.0.0.610 for the Javelin is available as a leak. So far from what I can see with regards to improvements, the overall OS seems to be a hair snappier. My app memory has went up from 95mb to 100mb. The battery seems on par with the previous 592 OS. It seems like so many OS leaks are coming out of the woodwork! It begs the question as to the release of the new and coveted OS 6.0. Let’s have it RIM!

berrybuzz updated to version 3.0!

Hey blackberry folks, its been a while since I lasted posted, but there’s some great news here. Berrybuzz has been updated to version 3.0.57. Included are several new colours and many more disco features like police (which is now my fav setting for a phone call). The UI has been tweaked, you can go for the white background or change it to a black background. I personally prefer the former over the later. This upgrade did come at cost though, at least for me. I had to pay an additional $1.99 for the upgrade. But honestly its worth the money. It gets the blackberry nik seal of approval :) Enjoy the upgrade!

What about Yatca?

What really irks me is that so many different twitter clients get covered on various sites, however, yatca always seems to be the red headed stepchild. However, I find it to be the most effective of all twitter clients. The app itself is tiny and takes little memory. Its crowning feature is that the tweet updates are tied with your message box. In other words, you don’t need to access an app to view the tweets. The tweets go right the message box, like a facebook notification or email. I had ubertwitter before, but once I downloaded yatca, I was instantly in love! Hey, Lance Armstrong uses it, why don’t you?

holy OS leaks batman!

Wow, I just posted about an OS leak for the Javelin last week and here we are again with another one. OS 5.0.0.592 for the Curve 8900 has just been released today and I just downloaded and installed it. They’re doesn’t seem to be many differences. The default browser seems a little snappier. And everything in general seems a bit quicker save for the bootup. At present I am not sure about the battery life. If there are any remarkable findings I’ll make sure to post them.

new OS leak for javelin and bold 9000

Hey blackberry people, just reporting on yet another slew of OS leaks. OS 5.0.0.554 for the Javelin and curve are available and there appears to be some incremental changes. The font in the options looks slightly larger, the browser appears faster and everything in general feels snappier. The lock button still serves as a standby, so remember to put a security timeout if you want your bb locked. I downloaded it for my Javelin and it seems better than the previous OS. But I beg the question, when are we going to see OS 6.0?

skype only for Verizon…. seriously??

This is absolutely ludicrous, but it explains why skype was so hush hush when it came to their product and the blackberry experience. It appears that only Verizon users will have the benefit of free blackberry to skype conversations. This means that we Canadian’s are once again screwed. How could this happen? I am quite appalled by this and I hope other solutions will be available. RIM can’t let this one slip by.

new pics of the sleek pearl 9100

Hey blackberry folks! I have some photos here courtesy of crackberry.com. The photos are of the new stylish pearl 9100 and needless to say, I really like the overall look of the phone. This is no doubt aimed at RIM’s mainstream audience and those loyal pearl users, which are many. I for one am not a fan of two letters per key and will always love the full qwerty layout. However, there are many who prefer the compact size of the pearl. Bring this one out RIM!!

Opera mini goes out of beta

Hey crackberry fiends. I received an email with regards to Opera Mini going out of beta to a final version. I downloaded it for my javelin and I must say that I am loving it! There are some incremental changes. The font is larger, the speed dial includes social networking delights like twitter and facebook. It seems generally snappier, the web pages are indeed smaller versions of the desktop brethren. On wifi I am most impressed. The browser speed is quick to say the least. Opera mini will no doubt be my default browser until RIM decides to do something with its webkit browser.

Berrybuzz upgrade

That’s right blackberry folks, the developers over at bellshare have released an upgrade to the ever popular and must have app, berrbuzz. Version 2.2.11 delivers the following:

- Added support for backup and restore of settings to media card
